Stories in Layers: A Six-Week Mixed Media Course

Wednesdays (starting 10th September) 7-9pm The Exchange, Brick Row, Stroud, Gloucestershire

Following on from our popular Landscape course, this six-week journey invites you to explore the rich, expressive possibilities of mixed media. Together, we’ll work on a single evolving artwork, adding new textures, imagery, and meaning each week. By layering different techniques and materials, you’ll create a deeply personal piece that tells its own story.

Over the weeks, you’ll discover how to:

• Build textured backgrounds with collage, found papers, and acrylic washes
• Incorporate personal imagery through transfers, tracing, and symbolic motifs
• Add depth with paint, texture mediums, and layering techniques
• Experiment with printmaking, stamping, and mark-making
• Refine your work with drawing, detail, and final presentation

The emphasis is on experimentation, storytelling, and developing your individual style in a supportive, inspiring atmosphere. All levels of experience are welcome — whether you’re new to mixed media or looking to expand your creative vocabulary.

When: Wednesday 7-9pm starting 10th September

Where: The Exchange, Brick Row, Stroud-parking available

Cost: six weeks- £120 in total, all materials supplied
